... 👉Mechanical Lock Panels…Panels are folded together (single or double lock) …Exceptional wind and weather resistance, ideal for steep slopes and harsh environments... Faster installation, common for residential applications… Choosing the right profile depends on roof pitch, exposure, and long-term goals. This is where working with an experienced contractor matter…
...  👉A roof that lasts 50+ years…  👉Solar that doesn’t outlive the roof…  👉No racks, no penetrations, no visual clutter… 👉 A system designed like construction, not an add-on…

Why Traditional Solar Isn’t Built to Last

Most solar systems are installed on top of an aging roof. That means, penetrations, flashing, and a second system that depends on the first one surviving.

When the roof fails, solar comes off.

When solar fails, the roof is compromised.

Velario removes that conflict entirely.

Is Your Roof a Good Fit?

What Is Roofit.Solar ? Velario?

Velario is a building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) roof system. The solar cells are built directly into standing seam metal roofing panels—so your roof is the solar system.

From the street, it looks like a modern metal roof.

Under the surface, it quietly produces clean power.

No add-ons. No visual clutter. No shortcuts.

There are four main types of panel profiles:

👉Snap-lock: It features a unique interlocking mechanism that allows panels to snap into place and creates a tight, secure seal. It’s a relatively easy-to-install system that is often used for residential and commercial roofs.

👉Mechanical lock: A mechanical seam panel profile has a double-lock seam, which is formed by folding the edges of two adjacent panels together. This creates a strong, weather-resistant seal that can withstand extreme weather conditions.

👉Batten panel: This panel profile is distinguished by its raised seams and its use of horizontal battens, which are installed over the roof deck.  It provides ventilation and support for the panels.

Some Questions and Answers for Montana Homeowners.

Providing an end-to-end solution, from premium-material products to expert installation services.

When you decide to upgrade your roof with our PV integrated solar rooftop, we begin by creating a customized 3D project plan using our specialized roof planning software. This intelligent program not only analyzes the direction and slope of your roof but also considers the physical environment surrounding your home, including nearby buildings and trees that may cast shadows.

The team of Solar Designers at Billings Solar Roofing then calculate the maximum power output of your solar project and provides a forecast for a full year. Using your averaged consumption and desired energy production capacity as a guide, the app calculates the level of investment costs and estimates when your roof will begin paying for itself.

There is one warranty for both the roof and the solar system. We call it undivided responsibility. No matter what the issue is, call us first. While the expected service-life of the roof is 70 years, the solar cells will slowly lose production over that time.

Yes. While winter days are shorter, Montana residents enjoy, on average, 220 days of clear and sunny skies. Being located on the 45th parallel is generally considered an excellent, high-performance location for solar energy in North America.  The reason why is because of an optimal tilt angle or relation to the sun.

A common rule of thumb is for the panel tilt angle to be equal to your latitude. Therefore, at 45°N, a tilt of 45° from horizontal provides excellent, balanced, year-round performance. Your typical 4:12 – 6:12 roof pitch is ideal for maximizing winter production while the sun is lower in the sky.

BIPV, or Building-Integrated Photovoltaics, is a technology where solar cells are integrated directly into a building product like roofing. The solar cells generate electricity while serving a dual purpose as a functional building component. Solar Integrated Roofing systems transform homes and other buildings from energy consumers into energy producers. The systems look great and last long, while offering sustainable living, energy resilience and environmental benefits.
Yes, Montana Integrated Solar Roofing will replace your existing roof and optimally the electricity that you purchase. A properly installed standing seam roof will strengthen or maintain the structural integrity of your home and buildings. The added weight of PV Cells is minimal and spread out equally. This roof may be the last roof that you invest in.
  • Yes, it is designed for Montana’s snow, wind, and cold weather conditions. PV is about light rather than heat. As long as there is light (even moonlight) the cells will produce energy. Oftentimes, snow on the ground and your surroundings will reflect light onto your roof increasing production. As far as the energy that is produced with BIPV there is no better place to be than Montana.
It can cost more upfront, but it combines 2 building products into 1.  Low or No-Maintenance metal roofing combined with high-energy PV Cells. The long-term cost is sufficiently lower due to the expected service life of other roofing products and the long-term maintenance associated with rack-n-rail solar panel installations. As an investment, integrated solar roofing is one of the better home improvements and it is a one-time investment into the security of your home and future.

Integrated Solar roofing systems using standing seam metal are designed to handle heavy snow loads typical in Montana. Standing seam metal roofs excel in Montana's harsh winters by naturally shedding heavy snow, reducing structural load, and resisting leak damage from freeze-thaw cycles.  The smooth metal surface helps snow slide off naturally, and the integrated design protects wiring from the elements. This makes solar roofing a great fit for our state’s winter conditions.

Real-Life Case Studies: Successful Solar Roofing Transformations.

★★★★★

To fully appreciate the benefits of solar roofing, it’s helpful to look at real-life case studies of homeowners who have successfully made the transition. One such example is the Smith family from California. Concerned about rising energy costs and their carbon footprint, the Smiths decided to install a solar roofing system on their suburban home. After conducting an energy audit and consulting with a reputable solar provider, they opted for a combination of traditional solar panels and solar shingles. The installation process was completed within a week, and the family immediately noticed a significant reduction in their electricity bills. Over the next few years, the Smiths saved thousands of dollars and enjoyed the peace of mind that came with generating their own clean energy.

★★★★★

Another inspiring case study is the Whitman family from eastern Montana. Living in a region with abundant sunlshine,  the Whitmans saw an opportunity to maximize their energy savings by installing a large solar roofing system. They chose high-efficiency solar panels and invested in a battery storage system to store excess energy for use during cloudy days and nighttime. The system not only covered their entire energy needs but also allowed them to export power back to the grid. The Whitmans also took advantage of federal and state incentives, which significantly reduced their upfront costs. Today, their home is a model of energy efficiency and sustainability.

★★★★★

To understand the transformative impact of solar roofing, let's explore some real-life case studies of successful installations. One notable example is the Andren family from Helena, MT.  They installed a 5 kW solar roofing system on their home. The system not only reduced their monthly energy bills by over 70% but also increased the value of their property. The Andrens were able to take advantage of state and federal incentives, which significantly reduced the initial cost of the installation. Their positive experience has inspired several neighbors to consider solar roofing, creating a ripple effect of sustainable living in their community.
